Diarrhea instead of diary! You have me in stitches!! What a wonderful memory to treasure forever. Your beautifully winding career - as well as this beautifully winding trip - are such a source of inspiration. Can’t wait to read more!
You are welcome, and thanks for writing! Your story reminds me also of something I heard a while ago - there's no such thing as a geographical cure. Wherever you go, there you are.
Adventurous? Tick! Speaking foreign languages? Tick! Long lost love? Tick! (Where's that movie director when you need them?) Lovely story. How crazy/adventurous/lucky we are when we are young. Not that I EVER, EVER did anything stupid in my younger days. Oh no, not me!
That's what I wrote about in my unpublished memoir. Actually it is beginning to feel like a four year pregnancy without even being near the delivery room yet!
Oh, don't worry, I'll be shouting it from the rooftops, and happy for you to be in the front row of those who've been there with me, since "way back when". Kidding aside, I do hope it will be this year, as I shot my mouth off in January and said I wanted to publish it THIS YEAR. Only 2 false starts with self publishing companies so far. And the hunt for a wonderful, patient editor continues!
Our minds have their own geography that have nothing to do with the landscapes around us. And as interesting and the trips we take in the real world, the ones we take in our inner world somehow never end.
As I sat in the seat next to you—um, virtually—I kept wondering, "Would you ever consider repeating the trip now?" It would make for a very unique buddy movie: older you driving younger you: "sorting out the twists and turns" of your life since. Great writing as usual.

Thank you so much for reading! That was a moment, for sure.
And now I must go to a place where I say, “Nobody in the world knows where I am!”
Seriously! Would we let that happen these days?

Yep.

I hope you write about all those not-stupid things!

Ouch. Hope you're able to birth it soon. I'm right there with you.

Beautifully said, Polly. Thanks for reading!

Interesting idea! But I'd probably rent an air-conditioned BMW with GPS and I'd for damn sure make reservations in advance. Thanks for reading!
Do it! What a great story that would be.
Maybe if I win the lottery!
Or get a healthy advance on your memoir!
From your lips? In my dreams? Fat chance? Hmmm. Pick your idiom?! ;)
Nope. Nope! NOPE! You got this!
